What it means if we find a match

A match doesn't automatically mean you're being scammed, and it doesn't prove who someone is. It means the photo has appeared somewhere else online too. Depending on where:

A stock photo site or modeling portfolio A strong sign the photo isn't actually them.
A different name or profile on another platform Worth asking about directly before you go further.
News articles or public figures The photo may have been taken from someone else's public image entirely.
No matches found This doesn't guarantee the photo is genuine. It just means we didn't find it publicly indexed elsewhere; a private or rarely-shared photo can still be someone else's.

Yes, it works on any photo you upload, regardless of which app or site it came from originally. Screenshots work fine too.
Can I look up a phone number instead of a photo?
Not through Searchly; this tool searches images, not phone numbers or email addresses. If you have a phone number and no photo, a phone-specific lookup service is a better fit; if you have a photo, this is the faster first step.
How is this different from just doing a Google image search myself?
General image search engines look for exact or near-exact copies of a picture. Searchly is built specifically around faces, so it can also catch cases where the same person appears in a different photo, not just the identical image reused.
What happens to the photo after I upload it?
