This policy explains what data searchly.app collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Information We Collect
Data and URLs
When you upload data or submit a data URL, it is used solely to process your search request. It is deleted immediately after the results are returned. It is not stored, analyzed for secondary purposes, used to train machine learning models, or shared with any third party. We do not aggregate, combine, or retain this data to build individual profiles, and we do not collect information about you from other public sources.
Face Data
If you upload a photo containing a face to use our face search feature, that image is processed solely to generate your search results. See Section 3 ("Face Data") below for full details on how face data is handled.
Technical Data
Standard server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and request timestamp. This data is used solely for security monitoring and abuse prevention. It is not linked to your searches or used to identify you.
Account Data
If you choose to create an account, we collect the minimum information necessary to create and manage that account (such as an email address). Account creation is optional for core, non-account-based features of the app; an account is only required for features that are inherently account-based.
2. How We Use Data
We use the data we collect only to:
Process your data search request
Maintain the security and integrity of the service
Diagnose technical issues
Manage your account, if you choose to create one
We do not use any collected data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes. We do not build individual profiles about you from public sources or any other data.
3. Face Data
Our app includes a face search feature. Here is exactly how face data is handled:
Face data is not retained
Any photo you upload for a face search is processed in real time and is permanently deleted from our servers immediately after your search results are returned. We do not store, archive, or keep a copy of your photo or any face data derived from it.
Why we process face data
We process the face data solely to perform the search you requested — generating a mathematical representation of the face in your photo and comparing it against image results to return visually similar matches. This processing is temporary and exists only for the duration of your single request.
Retention period
Zero. Face data is not stored at any point before, during, or after processing beyond the brief moment required to compute your search results, typically a few seconds. It is not appropriate to store face data indefinitely, and we do not do so.
Third parties
We do not share your face data with any third party. All face detection and comparison is performed using our own, internally developed and hosted technology — we do not send your photos or face data to any external company, API, or service for this purpose.
4. Disclosure of Information
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. Data may be disclosed only in the following limited circumstances:
Infrastructure providers
Hosting and CDN partners process data strictly on our behalf under confidentiality agreements. They have no independent right to use your data.
Legal requirements
We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the service.
Business transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may be transferred subject to the same terms of this policy.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use only functional cookies necessary for the site to operate. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral analytics, or cross-site tracking tools. You may turn off cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect site functionality.
6. Data Retention
Uploaded data, URLs, and face photos are deleted immediately after your search results are generated. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and are not linked to individual users. Account data is retained only for as long as your account remains active, or until you request deletion as described below.
7. Account Deletion
If you have created an account, you can permanently delete it, along with your associated account data, directly within the app:
In-app deletion
Go to Settings (or Profile) → Account → Delete Account, and confirm the deletion. This permanently removes your account and associated data; it does not simply deactivate or disable it.
No account required for core features
You do not need to create an account to use the app's core, non-account-based features, such as image searching. An account is only required for features that are inherently tied to an account.
If you have trouble deleting your account in-app, contact us at support@searchly.app and we will process your deletion request.
8. Your Rights
If you are located in the EU (GDPR), California (CCPA), or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you have rights, including the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. Because we do not retain search data, face data, or associate technical logs with your identity, there is typically no such data on record to retrieve or delete beyond your account data, which you can delete at any time as described in Section 7.
This service is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
10. Security
All data transmitted to and from searchly.app is encrypted via SSL/TLS. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
11. Changes to This Policy
Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
